It’s hard to believe Aqua Teen Hunger Force has been on for 13 seasons, especially considering I haven’t watched it in probably a decade… really since the nearly-unwatchable movie came out.

But the series started at a time when Cartoon Network’s late night Adult Swim line up was in a weird Post-Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast transition. There was a lot of unheard of anime in the wee-hours of the morning and some of the weirdest cartoons imaginable – Shows like Aqua Teen and Sea Lab 2021 fell into that category for sure.

But now it appears Aqua Teen is ending, and the amazing and prolific Patti Smith was some how convinced to sing an elegy for the show. Watch it below:

This isn’t the first time Aqua Teen has tapped successful/awesome musicians for support. The opening to the 2007’s theatrical release Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters featured music from the likes of metal gods Mastodon. Check it below:

The Aqua Teen series finale premieres Sunday 8/23 @ Midnight ET/PT.

As for Smith, she’s finished a record, BANGA, back in 2012 and she’s currently on tour.

Check out one of the singles form that release, “April Fool,” below:
