Miss Goldie (AUS) Funk and Soul set • April 10th, 2010
As part of our efforts to introduce some of the world’s best Soul and Funk DJs on Midnight Soulstice, we’re proud to present our special guest Samantha Goldie, better known as Miss Goldie, on tonight’s show. Miss Goldie is based in the beautiful city of Melbourne and has been collecting Soul 45’s for the last couple of decades and spinning them around Australia for almost as long. She moved to Melbourne a few years ago after running the “Off The Cuff” and “Sounds of Soul” nights in Sydney as well as playing the legendary late 90’s “Get Down” Funk night and supporting various international bands and DJ’s such as Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Keb Darge and Snowboy. In Melbourne she has become part of PBS 106.7FM radio and hosts a two-hour radio show every Sunday from 1 – 3 pm local time called “Boss Action.” She is also resident DJ in the Funk room of “Soul A Go Go”, Australia’s biggest Funk and Soul night held the 1st Saturday of the month as well as holding residencies at many of Melbourne’s great Soul friendly bars. Exclusively for Midnight Soulstice, Miss Goldie has prepared a dynamite mix featuring a hot selection of rare Funk and Soul gems. Our co-host DJ Pari will play around this set with his own choices of the finest rare grooves.

I created Richmond, Virginia’s culture publication RVA Magazine and brought the first Richmond Mural Project to town. Designed the first brand for the Richmond’s First Fridays Artwalk and promoted the citywide “RVA” brand before the city adopted it as the official moniker. I threw a bunch of parties. Printed a lot of magazines. Met so many fantastic people in the process. Professional work: www.majormajor.me
