In a stunning hostile takeover, indie mag RVA has acquired local weekly Style on April 1st, 2009.
RVA, a monthly, free, color magazine, has apparently been eying Style for several years. RVA Magazine’s senior designer, publisher, and international baller R. Anthony Harris, had the following to say about the purchase:

“Last month, we bought an island in the south pacific. It’s fucking tight, we’ve got waterslides, dolphins and shit.

We were going to buy a yacht this month, to help us get to the island, but we’ve already got two private jets & the island came with a runway, so we figured we’d buy Style instead.”

Style Weekly’s editor, Jason Roop, was available for comment this morning in the Mercedes-Benz G-Class he was given as a gift by RVA.

“This car is tight. I’m going to put it on 26 inch rims, and an RVA paintjob is coming, for sure.”

The rest of the Style Weekly’s staff has reported that they are getting matching RVA tattoos.

Financial details of the takeover are thin at the current time, however a large stock transfer from RVA’s portfolio is said to be part of the buyout. RVA Magazine owns controlling shares of PBR, Trojan, and has a significant presence in the retro fanny pack industry.

Local musician John Campbell, bass player for Lamb of God, had this to say:

“What the fuck are you calling me for? You got this number for a one-time interview, and now you keep calling me to see if I’ll come to your birthday party, or want to hang out and go to Morton’s. I’m a fucking vegetarian.”
