RVA Mag is kicking off this year’s Halloweek right this Friday with a little something sultry, sexy and gory all rolled into one.

The fabulous performers that make up Blacklist Burlesque will take the stage at Strangeways Brewing on Friday for a special Halloween version of the monthly “Brews and Burlesque” for all you freaks looking to get into the Halloween spirit.

Blacklist Burlesque producer Moxie Labouche and RVA’s “boylesque” performer Dante the Inferno have put together a fun and spooky show for you and they’ve enlisted the help of a few other performers including Cherie Sweetbottom, Foxy Squire, Ellie Quinn, Nudie Newbie Salem Sirene and stage kitten Jessica Valiant.

“You’ll see burlesque and variety performers from Richmond and even some coming as far away from New York,” said LaBouche.

LaBouche said has been doing Brews and Burlesque for two years and in the past they’ve put on a few Halloween-relaed performances.

“Strangeways gave us this opportunity to be a part of Halloweek,” she said. “We’re already playing dress up, you can’t help but do Halloween.”

She said Strangeways has been wonderful for Blacklist Burlesque because of how well the brewery markets all their events and with customers already coming in, they are able to reach a bigger audience with their performances.

“It really helps us in terms of the turnout,” LaBouche said. “It’s more difficult when you’re at a theater or art gallery because they may not be promoting all that much.”

At this special Brews and Burlesque event as part of RVA’s Halloweek, you can expect to see a little bit of everything.

“You will see some skin tastefully displayed, the acts will be sultry, they will be gory, they will be funny, you will even get to see one of our Game of Thrones-themed acts from Richmond’s only boy-lesque dancer Dante the Inferno,” LaBouche said.

Blacklist just finished its Game of Thrones-themed tour, the only burlesque tribute personally approved by author George R. R. Martin. LaBouche said anyone that didn’t get the chance to see Dante the Inferno’s assassin act from the tour will have the opportunity to see that this Friday.

LaBouche isn’t revealing all the details, but she said Ellie Quinn, one of the top names in “nerdlesque” here in Richmond, is performing her “Kirby” number from her recent “Nudetendo” burlesque show.

LaBouche also has a few tricks and treats of her own as well.

“I’m doing my Renfield from Dracula: Dead and Loving it,” she said.

Renfield is an inmate in the lunatic asylum from Mel Brooks’ parody film of the classic vampire story.

Cherie Sweetbottom will be performing her “Frank. N. Furter” and “Honeybadger” acts, which is quite a sight a see according to LaBouche.

“No one should Miss Cherie Sweet Bottom’s “Honeybadger” routine,” she said. “Your life is incomplete without it.”

The Brews and Burlesque Halloweek event will be hosted by Richmond funny man Ray Bullock.

Tickets are $9 in advance, $12 at the door. 21 and older. Get tickets on Strangeways’ website here or on Blacklist Burlesque’s website here.

And for all you thirsty craft beer lovers, Strangeways has brewed up some spooky and strange potions in their cauldron for you as well!

The brewery will have a special Havoc Black IPA at this event which is a black as night beer just in time for your Halloween that has some serious hoppiness. The hop profile brings in Citra, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Motueka, Cascade, Centennial, and finishes off with Mandarina Bavaria hops! That’s some seriously heavy hops that makes this a rare treat for a black IPA. Make sure and show up early to try some of this with us!

Also make sure and pick up one of our favorite beers at Strangeways, the Hallowbeer we all know and love “Gourd of Thunder.” If you ask nicely, they may even have some bottles to take home.

“Gourd of Thunder” is an Imperial Porter brewed with local pumpkins making this a dank dark treat year around Fall and Halloween time. Think dark pumpkin pie species, but in a bottle with alcohol – what’s not to love? If you get the variants, make sure and try and get Gingerbread and Chocolate.

You can join, invite all your weird friends, and keep up with our #HalloweekRVA events at our page here. And be sure to use the #HalloweekRVA tag on all your photos!
