Wear The Change You Wish To See In the World With RVA Mag’s New Charity Tees

It’s a tough time to be alive here in the United States. From eroding civil rights to prices that are spiraling upwards and leaving wages in the dust, things are getting tougher for ordinary people. In light of this unfortunate situation, RVA Mag has partnered with two different local charities to launch fundraisers this week.

Today, we’ve launched the first of these campaigns: our “Abort The Court” t-shirt campaign. 100% of the funds generated from sales of this limited edition t-shirt will be donated to Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia (@ppava). In addition to the “Abort the Court” slogan on the front of the shirt, the back includes the full text of the pro-choice statement Rage Against The Machine displayed on giant screens during their recent reunion tour dates.

“With everything we are experiencing as a country, we have to show up in support for women’s health and progressive values,” said RVA Magazine co-founder R. Anthony Harris. “Let’s show up at the rallies, show up at the ballot box. For us at the mag, if we are able to help raise funding for the right causes, we should. RVAMAG & GayRVA are proud to support Planned Parenthood. Shout out to Kim Frost (@kimberlyfrost) for setting this up.”

The “Abort The Court” t-shirt is available now at our Bonfire merch store. It’s available in four colors and two styles, in sizes from XS to 4XL. Sales will close on July 18, so get your orders in now.

The second fundraising campaign we’ve launched this week is the RVA Mag X Higgins “Summer Vibes” t-shirt campaign. A collaboration with artist Darrin Higgins, who designed the shirt, proceeds from the “Summer Vibes” shirt will go to Richmond Habitat For Humanity, to help those in need of affordable housing.

Higgins explained the shirt’s design this way: “Richmond summer vibes. The overbearing sun devilishly looming over you as you crawl back to society after a long lively day at the river. This feeling is paired with the ‘neon tropical’ colors from a shirt your parents bring you back from their summer vacation.” Indeed, the gleefully devilish sun comes armed with a pitchfork, fully ready to roast you as you sit on the sand at Texas Beach sipping a cold one.

Harris explained how the collaboration between Higgins and RVA Mag came about. “Darrin was nice enough to design these chill shirts, and asked that we support a local charity,” he said. “He had Richmond Metro Habitat for Humanity (@habitatrva) on his list. They help low income families find stable housing. That struck a personal chord with me. As someone who grew up jumping from home to home, I would like to help. With the social and economic environment being what it is today, there are so many families in need, and here is one small way we can help immediately.”

The RVA Mag X Higgins “Summer Vibes” t-shirts are also currently available on RVA Mag’s Bonfire merch store. The design is available in seven different colors, in sizes S to 3XL. Sales will close on July 25, so place your order today.
