There is no better tool right now than instagram to give you a sense of what a community is doing. If you were able to dig through all of the ones in Richmond, you would get an idea of what it’s like to live here. So here is our list of interesting local instagrams to show you what we are talking about.

Richmond based photographer Trevor Frost has been traveling the world for National Geographic while being sponsored by Eddie Bauer. By the looks of his instagram, he is having a blast.

What’s life like outside of your world famous metal band? Lamb Of God frontman D. Randall Blythe shows a side very few get to see on his personal instagram.

What if you could spend your whole day creating content for the biggest agencies in the world? What if you did that and still managed to have a ton of fun? Oh, and the awards are nice.

A curator of local curators, Brian McDaniel has an understated sensibility that is a Richmond staple.

Somewhere in the last year or so Joey Wharton decided that he is going to document anything interesting in town. Somewhere along that time frame he got really good. His diverse instagram is littered with energetic photos of bands and picturesque Virginia Living landscape shots from around town.

We like motorcycles. There are a number of great shops in town making awesome custom bikes but no one is quite making them like Atom Bomb. Scope out the stuff they are working on.

Johnny Hugel has an interesting life full of great food, travel and design.

Artist K. Randall Johnson makes work as energetic and colorful (aka crazy) as his life.

In 2005, I created RVA Magazine, and I'm still at the helm as its publisher. From day one, it’s been about pushing the “RVA” identity, celebrating the raw creativity and grit of this city. Along the way, we’ve hosted events, published stacks of issues, and, most importantly, connected with a hell of a lot of remarkable people who make this place what it is.
