the web version of our recent Avers profile (which can also be found in the new issue of RVA Magazine, out now!), but we didn’t want to just drop it into that article like no big deal, because this IS a big deal. Avers have released the first video from their debut LP, Empty Light, and it’s an evocative slice of sunshine. Mainly featuring footage of microscopic cellular activity intermingled with overexposed vintage 8mm shots of beaches and theme parks, this Brother Wolf-created video is a perfect complement for the hazy, sleepy psych Avers dish out on this song and across their entire new LP. Plus, you get to read along with the lyrics, which is always a bonus.

Speaking of the new LP, the long awaited vinyl version of Empty Light is available now! The self-released full-length can be purchased at several of the leading vinyl emporiums around town, including Deep Groove, Steady Sounds, Monument City, and Plan 9. Go pick up a copy of the limited-edition blood-red vinyl from any of those spots. Or, if you’re planning to be at Fall Line Fest this weekend–and I know a lot of you are–head over to The National, where Avers will be opening for Real Estate on Saturday starting at around 8 PM. They’ll have copies of Empty Light at the merch table, and you should definitely grab one. It’ll be the perfect soundtrack for the langorous Sunday morning mood that’s bound to overtake you the next day, once the fest is over. Drop the needle, crawl back into bed, and start thinking about where you’ll go for brunch. Yeahhhhh.
