Noah O, “Righteous Kill”

Right before the beginning of summer, Noah O dropped Monument Avenue, his album-length collaboration with producer Taylor Whitelow, which looks to be one of the strongest releases to come out of RVA this year. A while before the album came out, we got the video for its heartfelt Kleph Dollaz tribute, “Klephnote.” Now, from director Monsee comes another visual from the album, this one for the more defiant and hard-hitting “Righteous Kill.”

Over a rollicking piano line and a powerful beat from producer Whitelow, Noah O establishes his bona fides with some excellent lyrics, including some impressive double-time spitting in the second verse. The accompanying visuals find him looking smooth as silk, arriving in his Sunday best to a church to drop knowledge and oversee the funerals of every wack MC who tries to go toe to toe with him. Noah O continues to be one of the foremost rappers on the RVA scene, and “Righteous Kill” proves that his position is entirely justified. Monument Avenue is still available as a deluxe CD edition, or in a standard digital version, from monumentavenue.bandcamp.com. If you don’t have it yet, fix that right now.
