RVA Mag had the distinct pleasure of attending Rad Rax, Burlesque On Fury Road Saturday evening and suffice it to say, we are “oh so shiny and chrome.”

It was not only an unforgettable show, but also a beautiful opportunity to delve into the burlesque culture as well as the most sexual version of 2015’s hit movie Mad Max: Fury Road imaginable.

Deepa De Jour and Zhora Nova, the creative masterminds behind this event, came together to bring us an absolutely high-octane, full-throttle experience. Proof of their genius could be found in the fervor of the audience’s roar–it isn’t often that you can go to a show and have the crowd be as enigmatic and participant as they were.

The sheer excitement and enjoyment that echoed through Gallery 5 was palpable.

Though it was hard to peel one’s eyes from the wiggling cheeks and spinning tassels, it was very clear how much time and effort went into the choreography, costume design, and the overall quality of Rad Rax.

It would be easy to say this was an homage, but this show took it far beyond the boundaries of fan fiction. Nova, who played an incredible Imperator Furiosa, along with De Jour, did a wonderful job of creating a story that is completely unique and accentuates a love for Mad Max.

With plenty of sexy scenes and comedic humor, it was a show that could be enjoyed by Mad Max lovers and those unfamiliar with the series.

Take a look at some of the photos from this once-in-a-life-time production below:
