Gallery 5’s Five Year Anniversary Celebration: THE party NOT to miss!

by | Apr 2, 2010 | POLITICS

It’s been five incredible years. RVA and Gallery5 have been on one hell of a ride together, and it was in April 2005 when we both started this journey into the arts and beyond. We at RVA are incredibly proud of Amanda and everyone at Gallery 5, and they’ve got one hell of a party lined up for tonight! From their website:

This month, Gallery5 will be arriving at an important milestone… we will be proudly celebrating our 5th anniversary! We have devoted each Friday in April to showcase some of the best artists, performers and exciting new events that our great culturally diverse community has to offer. We hope that you will join us in supporting these amazing artists who make our city a better place to live and work.

Info on all the artists showing & performances below the break!

Each of these Friday events will celebrate a different aspect of our history, culminating in an exclusive Members Appreciation Night on the final Friday, April 30th.

Our month kicks off with our First Friday Opening Reception
Since our opening in April 2005, whiskey has been the unofficial drink of choice for our staff and volunteers. At the end of nearly every opening reception we celebrate with either a shot of whiskey or a whiskey cocktail. That is why for our 5 Year Anniversary we are proud to feature the local whiskey distillery, Copper Fox Distillery that will provide their Wasmund’s Whiskey at each of our Friday events.

Upstairs Gallery:
Our main gallery will feature photographs from the past 5 years of Gallery5 by some of Richmond’s favorite photographers including: David Kenedy, PJ Sykes, Hassan Pitts, Danny Holcolm, Henry Stern, Jennida Chase, JahnPage, Laurel Dankos, Kenneth Howard, Todd Raviotta and many others! Photos sales will benefit Gallery5 and start at only $10. A special thank you to Richmond Camera and Uptown Color for their support!

GallowLily’s:
The GallowLily’s gallery will feature small works generously donated by past artists. These works will be sold through a silent auction that ends on Friday, April 30th at our Exclusive Members Appreciation Night! Place your bids starting this Friday! Artists include, Mathew Ritchie, Daniel Clark, Dave Moore, Oura, Annie Campbell, Ben Belcher, Barry Bruner, Anna Golden, Bizhan Khodabandeh, Andrea Owens, and many others to be announced!!

Lucent Phoenix Gallery and Resource Center:
Our downstairs space will feature posters from past visual and performance art events designed by local illustrators, graphic designers and more!
