Henrico Man Who Hit Toots With a Bottle Gets 6 Months in Jail

Hit a famous reggae singer in the head and embarrass a city during a free music festival? That’ll be 6 months in jail, according to a Times Dispatch article posted today.

William Connor Lewis, 20, from Henrico, threw an empty vodka bottle at famed reggae singer Toots Hibbert at the Dominion Riverrock festival back in May of this year. Toots suffered a head wound and sued Lewis for over $20 million after the injury forced him to cancel the rest of his 2013 tour. And today Lewis had his day in court. Here’s more form the TD:

William Connor Lewis, 20, had been charged with felony malicious wounding but pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and battery.

After hearing testimony, Circuit Judge Margaret P. Spencer sentenced him to 12 months with six months suspended.
