Is VCU’s Ram logo #1 in the country?

A contest on SportzEdge.com has pitted the VCU Rams logo (the image associated with the school’s various sports teams) against a rival school’s logo in a new contest to determine the “coolest” logo in college sports.

The contest is currently in the ‘sweet 16,’ and the school needs your vote to get VCU to the ‘final 8.’

Here’s what SportzEdge had to say about VCU’s logo:

VCU Rams

Of all the logos left in the field, this might be logo expert Kels Dayton’s favorite. It’s sleek, slightly cartoonish (which is cool in my book), and has a nice color scheme. You gotta love this rendition of a Ram.

VCU fans have been outstanding all tournament long, and now they’ve got a chance to put their school–and its logo–in the Elite Eight. They’re coming strong here.

The contest currently pits VCU against the McNeese State Cowboys, which SportzEdge seems to already have an opinion on:

McNeese State Cowboys

We’ve hated on this logo since the beginning of the contest, but there’s no hating on the McNeese State fans. They’ve done a terrific job backing their generic cowboy.

McNeese State edged Missouri-Kansas City and its awesome kangaroo logo last round, and upset some of the better looking logos in the NCAA (including Abilene Christian and New Orleans) in the Southland Conference. They’re a cool logo-killer. Will this unlikely Cinderella story continue? Let’s see.

You still have time to voice your opinion in the contest, head over to SportzEdge.com and cast your vote.

Personally, I can’t get over a logo contest being run by a company with a ‘z’ instead of an ‘s’ in their name, but I guess it’s a logo contest and not a general branding contest, so whatever.
