Andrew WK is one of those people who probably shouldn’t exist. He’s known for his endless amount of party and incredibly high energy shows – and now he’s brining that party to Richmond’s Capital Ale House in the form of a lecture series.

Andrew WK is one of those people who probably shouldn’t exist. He’s known for his endless amount of party and incredibly high energy shows – and now he’s brining that party to Richmond’s Capital Ale House in the form of a lecture series.

WK has made headlines for his speaking tours for sometime. His movement, known as a the The Power of Partying is one part Tony Robbins and one part MDMA, though drug abuse is not part of his platform. And yes, platform is a good word because he’s actually formed his own political party – the Party Party – which, as you can imagine, supports partying, but also breaking down the two party system.

“This is not a political party rally, it’s a rally about partying with the political elements set aside,” insists WK, who got his public speaking cred back in 2006 with his now infamous four-hour lecture to a sold out NYU Skirball Center crowd. “This is my attempt to add something positive and unifying to the divisive atmosphere surrounding us in so many different forms. Without targeting or preaching to any one side, I want to see if we can party together in our common humanity. We will have a party about being people.”

This is a semi-legit movement… I think. Here’s a political ad for the Party Party:

For those of you who can’t quite place why you remember Andrew WK, check out the video below:

Oh man, I just confused all of my interns by blasting this.

WK came through town back in 2010 and played a Pre-Best Friends Day party. I was working at WRIR at the time and one of my favorite interviews ever occurred when I caught WK back stage. Check it out below:

Yea, he’s a weirdo, but his lectures are supposed to be amazing, and his live show is even better.

Andrew WK’s lecture happens Wednesday, 11/9, at Downtown Capital Ale House and you can snag tickets for $20 this Friday.
