Hundreds gathered in Monroe Park this afternoon for a Labor Day rally organized by 50501 Movement and 50501 Virginia, demanding “Workers Over Billionaires.” The event, which kicked off at 4:30 PM, brought together community members, activists, and labor advocates to highlight the fight for fair wages, healthcare, and protections for working people.
Speakers and signs called out corporate greed, attacks on immigrants and marginalized communities, and the need to defend programs like Medicaid and Social Security. Chants and handmade posters filled the park as the crowd marched with messages opposing authoritarian policies and lifting up working-class voices.
Organizers framed the protest as part of a larger movement to stop the billionaire takeover of politics and ensure a better future for all Americans.
