Richmond Public Utilities seeks experienced mascot as new Utility Buddy ($25/h)

Oh man, I’m still laughing.

Oh man, I’m still laughing. Richmond DPU has a mascot – Utility Buddy – and they are looking to higher a new person to dawn the comically over-sized gas meter suit.

Check out Utility Buddy in action below:

As for the job description, the man or woman behind the meter must be at least 5’7″, unafraid of children or confined spaces, able to get hot and sweaty for long periods of time, and “provide a personality for a box-shaped character who does not speak.”

“Agility and ability to walk in giant, lace-up boots and wear four-fingered gloves” is also part of the gig.

The job listing also claims to be one of the more glamorous and desirable mascot positions in town with “most successful hires were former Nutzy the Squirrels and former Sesame Street Live actors.”

Less successful mascots were former “Liberty Insurance costume” folks, so heads up if that’s your resume lead.

Also, the gig is VERY part time, promising only a couple hundred bucks a year, so don’t count on this making much of a dent in your student loans or anything.

All jokes aside, you’d be surprised what I’d do at $25 an hour.

Those interested should head over to this job listing and fill out an application
