Sunday, Richmond played host to a city-spanning protest and march in support of those suffering at the hands of police brutality in Ferguson, MI.

Hundreds of people showed up at Monroe Park around 4 PM, and they marched all the way to city hall – teens, families, black, white – asking for peace in this confusing time.

“It could have been me, it could have been my friend’s son,” said Richmond demonstrator Pierce Hoehn told NBC 12 in an interview Sunday. “We are here to simply ask for justice, and to call for calm.”

Ferguson has been in a state of turmoil since Mike Brown, an 18-year-old black teen, was shot 6 times by a white officer. A steady flow of protests have continued, as has violence and looting by and against protesters.
