Fate is hard to pin down and sometimes hard to believe in. Our world is often times a chaotic catastrophe that can seem very random.

Fate is hard to pin down and sometimes hard to believe in. Our world is often times a chaotic catastrophe that can seem very random. Once in a blue moon though it can feel like stars are aligning and some force is pushing things together. This is the case with Meagan Abell and her campaign to #FindTheGirlsOnTheNegatives.

Abell is a young up and coming local photographer who often wanders through the sea of discarded treasures in thrift shops. She said it’s her therapy to rifle through these stores and see what she discovers. One day she went to a shop she had never visited before, Heritage Antiques here in Richmond.

She rifled through a box of negatives and found a strip that caught her eye. She bought them, then took them home and developed them.

What she found were a stunning series of photos that appear to date back to the 1950s. The women in these pictures are beautiful and the setting is beyond stunning. Looking at these photos evokes something in people, but more than that it seems to tell a story. Abell took her story to the internet to find out just who these women were.

Since posting the photos and starting the #FindTheGirlsOnTheNegatives hashtag this story has been picked up by local, national, even international news sources. So far Abell has found that the photos were likely taken in the 1950s, likely by professional photographer for a magazine, and that there is a good chance that they were shot on Dockweiler Beach in Playa Del Ray, California.

Abell and the mysterious women seem to have been meant to find each other. You can find Megan Abell on facebook or follow her on instagram @alwaysabell for updates on her quest to #FindTheGirlsOnTheNegatives
