A second location is in the end stages of construction, and owner Ian Kelly said it’ll be ready by Monday of next week at the latest. The new shop is located at 1110B E. Main Street, and will be sprinkled with different details than the current shop on Lombardi.
“The new store is Sugar Shack Coffee, so we’re really pushing coffee, and donuts – we’ll still have them but it’s not gonna be the focus,” Kelly said.
Both shops will have the same prices on coffee and will use Zeke’s coffee from Baltimore. But Kelly said the new grounds at Sugar Shack Coffee will have lattes and espressos which won’t be at the other shop.

And a new shop isn’t all that’s coming for Sugar Shack. In preparation for the spring and summer, Kelly’s hoping to expand the 1001 N. Lombardi location with an outdoor patio. The new special use permit was approved by City Council last night.
“The idea is basically when you walk up to the front door you can go straight in the building, or you can cut left and there’ll be a wood deck that goes over with a little express takeout window, and then a 12-seat outdoor patio with a big tree over top,” Kelly said.
The young confectioners just can’t keep up with the city’s sweet tooth. The original plan was to open three or four shops over a couple years, but Kelly said it’s since glazed over to accommodate for the faster growth.
“It’s neat and there’s definitely some nerves and some scare that comes along with it, but at the same time everybody is begging us to open more, so I’m just trying to slow it down a little bit and do it,” Kelly said, and noted that it didn’t take long for him to decide to get his bearclaws on the Sugar Shack Coffee location.
“The plan all along was to open several. The plan to do one that was focused on coffee, that kinda happened overnight. Like I walked in the building and saw it and was just, “This needs to be a coffee shop,” Kelly said.
Sugar Shack has tasted some sweet success in it’s short life, and they’re doing all they can to keep their business from going stale.
