The top six reasons you should have watched Wrestlemania 31 last night

Last night I rushed home from my day job to make sure I made it in time to catch every minute of the year’s biggest event in sports entertainment, WrestleMania 31.

What, you didn’t? Well you missed some great action and the kind of storytelling you can only get from WWE.

Here’s the top six highlights of what you missed last night:

6) The John Cena/Rusev made me believe in America

USA, USA, USA- Nothing made me feel patriotic than watching John Cena win against Rusev. Its was a cool and Cena gave him an attitude adjustment. Even though Cena’s entrance- complete with George W. Bush and Ronald Regan speeches paled in comparison to Rusev’s fucking tank entrance which you can watch below.

5) AJ Lee and Paige blew the house down in the Divas tag team match

It’s no secret that the WWE Divas devision isn’t taken the most seriously by the McMahon crew, but its hard not to #GiveDivasAChance when you see AJ and Paige beat the shit out of the Bella twins. Even though AJ was out early, when she came back into the match, she was dominant, turning the tide of the match. Though Paige and AJ, seen above embracing, spent the last year being far from a perfect team, they really seemed to have it together last night.

4) Triple H wore the remains of a terminator/Sting wrestled in the WWE’s title PPV

The real treats of the match were DX and nWo coming together for one epic fight, but the entrances and pretext of the fight got this number on my list for a reason.

First of all, Sting, the man who essentially led WCW in the Monday night war, was wrestling at WWE’s title PPV, WrestleMania. Let’s not forget just how cool that is on its own.

Beyond that, the extended terminator advertisement/entrance for Triple H was out of character but super cool. (Sting’s entrance, seen above, also reached critical old-asian-man-playing-a-drum mass) Also DX and nWo making peace at the end was a good dessert for the match.

3) The Undertaker takes care of Bray Wyatt

The Streak may have died, but the Undertaker did not. (Well, The Undertaker might be sort of immortal or undead – wrestling is complicated.) When Brock Lesnar ended The Streak last year at WrestleMania XXX, The Undertaker wasn’t in great shape, but here he is in now, in good enough shape to beat up the cheap-Undertaker-ripoff Bray Wyatt.

2) Ronda Rousey and Dwayne “Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson” Johnson facing down Stephanie McMahon and Triple H

It’d be easy to focus on The Rock versus Triple H here, but the real stars were the women.

Stephanie McMahon has been practicing wrestling monologues since she was in the womb, so her hype and her delivery really sold this. But then Ronda Rousey, the world’s toughest woman (and former Pokemon forum moderator) came out in an OVER 9000 shirt and kicked some owner/promoter ass.

This wasn’t just badass, it was also the first time anyone in an OVER 9000 shirt has kicked anyone’s ass.

1) Seth Rollins sneaks in a championship

After Roman Reigns, a face nobody likes, and Brock Lesnar, a heel that everyone loves to hate, beat each other into a literally bloody pulp, the biggest twist of the night happened.

Seth Rollins who fresh off being the victim of what’s been called the best RKO of all time, shown below.

He then cashed in his Money in the Bank and caused a triple threat match for the championship and pulled it out. It was one of the coolest and most unexpected upset victories ever.
