Gross, Richmond, just freak’n gross… about 1.5 of every 100 Richmonder’s has an STI (sexually transmitted infection… or STD if you’re old fashioned) according to a study from RentApplication.com.

Before you take a shower and ask your S/O what they’ve been up to, let it be known we weren’t as bad as some other cities. At #1 you’ve got Montgomery, AL, with about 1900 out of ever 100,000 people infected, and Norfolk, VA with 1632.74 out of 100,000.

RentalApplication.com said military bases often lead to higher STI numbers, but that seems a bit easy to connect.

The study’s data comes from 2013 CDC reports on STIs including syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia (Herpes data is not collected which means things could actually be worse).

You can dive deeper into the CDC’s data here.

Richmond has free clinic hours to get that shit treated, folks – STI/HIV Services are available for free on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (sign-in 7:30 a.m.10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.) at the local VA Health Department office. Show up early if you want to get seen quickly… is what a friend told me.

I was gonna look for a video to embed in this post, but they are all really really gross.

Yea, so maybe I should put one in here…

We BY NO MEANS are aiming to slut-shame or pass judgment on the sexually active, we love to get weird as much as the next magazine (looking at you Style Weekly!), but please Richmond, wear a swim cap if you’re gonna take a dip in the fleshy pool.

On a more serious notes, RVA is also one of the worst cities in the US for HIV/AIDS infections with about 1,160 HIV-infected residents per 100,000 population according to 2013 numbers from the CDC. This makes Richmond the 17th highest rate among the more than 2,300 U.S. cities that reported the diagnoses to the CDC’s database.

So please please please, wrap it up folks.
