Here’s a brand new video from Tidewater-based director Abraham Vilchez-Moran and cinematographer Josiah Marroquin, the same team that brought you the excellent video for “Ctrl-X Ctrl-V” by The Trillions. Premiered today by Pitchfork TV the clip is the third to be taken from Roanoke indie rockers Eternal Summers’ second LP, Correct Behavior, released earlier this year by Kanine Records.
The clip, which takes place in a run-down old hospital and features interspersed underwater footage, is far different from the Trillions video on a narrative level, but nonetheless captures a similar visual feel through the washed-out color palette chosen by Vichez-Moran and Marroquin. The abstract narrative in the video is a good fit for the wistful, elegaic feel of the track itself, which is one of Eternal Summers’ slower tunes. It concentrates on minor key melodies throughout but also retains a harsher edge due to the shards of feedback and guitar distortion that intrude upon the song’s final choruses.
Look for both Eternal Summers and Josiah Marroquin in the next print issue of RVA Magazine–coming soon!
