This is a video made from photos I took on my cell phone, from December 21 2010 at the Mekong Solstache party until getting my iPhone on my birthday, February 14, 2012. It is around 8000 images at 1 frame per image. I started taking cell phone pics as normal, with some sequences for gifs, when I first got this one as a replacement phone. As I kept doing all the other animations on my Canon 5D, I kept the phone as a camera when I didnt have the other, or just wanted images on my cell phone, at events and during life. Around the time I did this video for the Pollak Awards, where I gathered images of the nail polish painting, I tested out the year to that point (which was September-ish) as a similar animation. Seeing the result, I started to really make the most of the process. I developed and shot on the phone until New Year’s Day 2012, thinking that would be the ending, but with no conclusion, I kept shooting, deciding that it would wrap when I got a new phone. The iphone came on my birthday, and I was able to include a cameo of my goddaughter by letting it go longer. On Saturday, Feb 25, I showed the video at the James River Film Forum, and feedback was really positive. I went viral with it, because it is too important to not be seen and shared. Hopefully the work I am making will at some point be worth touring with and speaking about.
