This next video comes from a local artist who is taking his talents to the West Coast and marketing them. This artist goes by Emphasys. This song, “HSI,” is a declaration in song about Emphasys coming from California back to RVA to still be a “Headliner, Showstopper, Icon.” This video, which was shot by BC Music First, starts off with him coming home from the airport to hit the stage at a show here in RVA. There are many people from the RVA scene who are part of Emphasys’s life in this video, such as U-Cubed Gang and members of The New Juice Crew–even I make a cameo in it. Emphasys drops some complex double-time flow on this track to show his skills, and the beat was put together by a local producer/singer named Kevin Jackson, who also produced the title track from Emphasys’s previous mixtape, “No Competition.” With “HSI,” Jackson shows he has succeeded in making another hit for Emphasys. This track is taken from Emphasys’ next project, All The Above, which will be coming later this year, so keep an eye out.
