The press release I got for the brand new Hoax Hunters video for “Six/Five” informed me not that it was out, but that it had been “declassified”–which was a bit of a mystery at first, but all became clear once I watched the video.
The press release I got for the brand new Hoax Hunters video for “Six/Five” informed me not that it was out, but that it had been “declassified”–which was a bit of a mystery at first, but all became clear once I watched the video. If you’re interested in learning the secrets of Area 51, and specifically how the US government was really behind the flying saucers all along, you definitely need to watch this video! Seriously, I have no idea where the period footage this video is constructed with might have come from, but it sure does look authentic. Suddenly I’m finding myself questioning everything. As Fox Mulder would say, “The truth is out there.”
One truth I do know for sure is that Hoax Hunters rip it up on this video’s soundtrack, laying down another prime three-minute slab of their ferocious Husker Du/Naked Raygun postpunk/proto-grunge sound. “Six/Five” is the latest single from their debut full-length, Comfort And Safety, out now on Negative Fun Records and Cherub Records. If you don’t have it yet, grab the vinyl HERE, the mp3 or cassette (which is almost sold out!) HERE. That “flying saucer building” cover (pictured above) will make clear exactly why these guys picked the subject matter for this video!
Hoax Hunters will be playing on Sunday, March 1 at Gallery 5 with Nashville “surf metal” group Hurts To Laugh, and RVA’s Prayer Group and Half Bascule. Starts at 7 PM, admission is $5. For more info, click here.
