Here’s a new video from the extended family known as the Seven Hills Crew–a collaboration between rapper Charles Diamond and producer Kons (formerly Cons) The Child, who steps out in front of the mic to contribute a verse as well as the beat on this track. The video for “Foolush” is a tale of two hoodies. Charles Diamond wears a black NWO hoodie as he walks the streets of RVA at night, spitting his lyrics to an empty apartment and a room full of vacant chairs. His brooding verse details the struggle of a troubled person to set his life on the right path, and the eventual discovery of redemption through love. Once Diamond’s verse ends, the setting and mood of the video abruptly change, and we see Kons The Child walking through the woods to deliver his verse as leaves fall from the trees. The hoodie Kons wears is light blue and appropriate for both the sunny outdoor setting and his lyrics, which pick up at the same upbeat point that Diamond’s verse left off. Continuing the thread of the song by looking into the future, Kons ponders the ability of a broke but happy young kid to find a way forward into adulthood by following his own dreams rather than the path laid out for him by society. The differing moods of the two verses match up equally well to the jazzy acoustic bass groove that drives the song, which speaks well for Kons’s production skills and results in “Foolush” being a strong, unified track despite its variety of moods. The Seven Hills Crew are always pushing their music forward, and this excellent new track shows that they’re moving in the right direction.
“Foolush” is the final song on the latest releases by both Kons The Child and Charles Diamond.
