All Richmonders are invited to come celebrate the life, the music and the experience that was Prince, in two special screenings of Purple Rain at Richmond’s own cinema palace, the Byrd Theatre. Shows are on Wednesday, April 27 at 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 30 at midnight.

In honor of the rock legend’s prolific career and his untimely death, the Byrd proudly screens the rock musical and semi-autobiogrpahical, even prophetic, story of Prince’s rise to superstardom. The film originally opened on July 27, 1984. One month later, Prince Roger Nelson became the first artist ever to have the top movie, album and single at the same time.

This is an opportunity for fans celebrate his memory and to once again experience the film on the silver screen at the only theatre in Richmond to screen the film.

Tickets will only be sold at the door, thirty minutes before showtime. Tickets are $1.99 for the Wednesday show and $5 for the midnight show on Saturday.

Attendees are encouraged to wear purple in memory of this legendary musical icon.
