RVA G40 Mural Project 2012: A Photoanimation by Todd Raviotta

by | Jul 17, 2013

With the Richmond Mural Project in full swing and artists from all over the world creating large format murals on the sides of buildings here in RVA as we speak, now seems like a perfect time to revisit the works created for the G40 Mural Project last year.

With the Richmond Mural Project in full swing and artists from all over the world creating large format murals on the sides of buildings here in RVA as we speak, now seems like a perfect time to revisit the works created for the G40 Mural Project last year. During April of 2012, Art Whino and RVA Magazine joined forces to bring nearly a dozen muralists to RVA, and our own Todd Raviotta was on the scene throughout the month, documenting the creation of the murals as it happened around town and capturing the various stages of their development. With this recently-released video, Todd has created a photoanimation film that allows you to watch the murals come together in real time. Featuring work by 2501, Angry Woebots, Aryz, Gaia, Jaz, Lelo, La Pandilla, Pixel Pancho, Roa, and Scribe (some of whom are also participating in this year’s Mural Project), the video has an RVA-focused soundtrack provided by Ohbliv and Just Plain Ant of the Just Plain Sounds hip hop collective. Take a gander, and then keep an eye out for opportunities to check out this year’s crop of murals as they’re created.
