Those Manic Seas, “That Manic Song” (Live at Balliceaux)

It’s Those Manic Seas‘ birthday, but the presents are for you!

It’s Those Manic Seas‘ birthday, but the presents are for you! They’ve just released a video documenting a live performance of “That Manic Song,” from their “Headache/Heartache” single, recorded live at Balliceaux on November 14, and we’re delighted to bring you the premiere of that video right now! There’s also a free download of the performance available–grab that right here, so you can jam out on this tune while driving around Richmond’s icy, sandy streets this weekend.

As you may have read in our recent print feature on the band, they have recently expanded to a five-piece with the addition of second guitarist Chris Westfall, but this video was shot while Westfall was still preparing for his live debut (look for him to appear onstage with the band by March). However, in this video, guitarist Drew Rollo capably handles all of the six-string fireworks required for the song, while the rhythm section of bassist Todd Baker and drummer Daniel Medley keep the whole thing moving forward in a highly dramatic fashion that stands in marked contrast to television-headed singer Kilroy The Stillness’s crooning vocal. It all adds up to a stunning postpunk tune full of danceable energy. This is what Those Manic Seas are all about–and you’ll be able to find out more very soon, as the band is currently finishing up their debut full-length LP. Always nice to have something to look forward to in the new year.
