What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly beer column.

The weather is getting pretty chilly, but that doesn’t mean you stay inside and be a blob on your couch! We have a ton of booze news brewing ready so hold out your mugs as we tap this thing!

Before we get into this week’s news, let’s check out what you missed last week.

Isley threw a Winter Ball with a white elephant gift exchange and of course, their delicious brews and a chocolate fountain!

Ardent released their new Rye Kolsch brew. Looks tasty!!

Now on to this week’s news:

On Friday, Ardent Craft Ales will release its Earl Grey Brown Ale, a collaboration with Champion Brewery and Potter’s Cider. You can find the brew this Friday, the 15th, at Fat Dragon and the new Boulevard Burgers and Brews joint.

It’s not until next week, but Ardent is hosting a beer dinner on the 18th and tickets are going fast! The dinner will feature chefs from Heritage, Southband and Saison.

Lickinghole Creek will release its Heir Apparent brew this Sat. Jan 16. Its a Mexican-Spiced Imperial Stout brewed with Mexican peppers of course, cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa to satisfy your tastebuds.

Bust out your neon leggings, jean jackets, acid wash jeans and crimp that hair because Midnight Brewery is throwing an 80s party this Sat. Jan. 16. There will be a DJ and prizes for the best dressed and food from River City Wood Fire Pizza.

Blue Bee Cider will release its Harvest Ration New Vintage cider. The Harvest Ration will showcase their Catoctin Creek Distilling Company collaboration brandy.

Hardywood will release its Handsom Cab brew this Fri. Jan. 15. Head brewer Brian Nelson created this ale with a malty backbone with a blend of English hops, showcasing the Brambling Cross varietal.

So Strangeways will release its Freeze Ray Eisbock brew this weekend. We had it in last weekend’s Tapped, but the brew will be released on the 15th.

Charlottesville brewery Starr Hill has cooked up something delicious for all you chocolate lovers out there! On January 27th they will celebrate National Chocolate Cake Day with pairings the debut of their Double Chocolate Imperial Stout andcupcakes. It’s a little outside the city and a few weeks away, but definitely something you should check out!
