RVA musician collective Don’t Chase Felix has been hard at work in the studio and just released their second single, “Come Get Me High” featuring the lovely powerhouse vocals of Sam Reed.

Half rock and roll half blues the soulful tune is a feel good track that soothes the soul and forces one to reminisce with drink in hand on that one person you just can’t get enough of.

“The song is about wanting someone so bad and being so involved and wrapped up in another person that they kind of become your drug and i think a lot of us can relate to that,” said Reed, member of local hip hop/soul group Pohtosynthesizers.

Reed croons over Andrew Trongone’s guitar and she takes us on an emotional rollercoaster with her as this volatile relationship chews her up and spits her out. But like a drug, she keeps coming back for more because she just can’t live without it.

The singer said Justin Khoury, who started the Don’t Chase Felix project back in September wrote the lyrics for the song and asked her to sing on the track.

“He wanted a very soulful feel for the track,” Reed said.

The group consists of various RVA musicians including Justin Khoury, Sam Reed, Andrew Trongone, Caroline Mauck and a few others.

Don’t Chase Felix released their first single, “Holiday” featuring Mauck in January and dropped the music video last month.

They recorded “Come Get Me High” at Red Amp Audio and wrapped up the track in November. Reed has since broken out on her own and released a solo album, This Is Love this past spring.

Stay tuned for more from Don’t Chase Felix!
