Our beloved psychedelic rock band People’s Blues of Richmond received some love from Consequence of Sound on Wednesday. The music news site premiered their newest single, “Quit or Die,” an edgy punk song that’s a little different from their usual sound, but equally awesome.

The track is is the first single off a new album of the same name that’s due out June 10.

According to Consequence of Sound, “Quit or Die” was written about the battles of drug addiction.

Guitarist and vocalist Tim Beavers II of People’s Blues of Richmond told the music site that he struggled with addiction for years.

“I wanted to write this song to remind myself and anyone else listening that when your drug use becomes habitual and beyond your control … you have to stop lying to yourself. You have to start fighting for yourself,” he said in the interview.

The trio plans to host a pre-release show for the album in Richmond so stay tuned for details on that.
