RVA’s honky-tonk bluegrass group Red Light Rodeo are a band you can get up and dance to while throwing back some good whiskey. Or cheap whiskey, whatever’s around.

The group recently released a video for their unreleased song “Shine My Way” which they shot back in April at The Camel as part of The Bluegrass Jamboree with Jet Trails Media. It’s catchy, fun and gets you revved up for a good time as you drown your sorrows or get loose with friends.

“Making this video with the guys (and gal) was a lot of fun,” said Zach Miller, mandolin/fiddle player for Red Light Rodeo. “Shine is a song about a man hitting the road and leaving his lover back at home. He’s got to chase his dreams to have his “song played on the radio” but he’s still grappling with having to leave and worrying about the road changing him into something she won’t like when he comes home.”

Lead singer Wes Canter has that smooth, deep country voice that stands strong over the light-hearted background instruments. Normally, Red Light Rodeo is a three-piece consisting of Canter, Miller, and Zach Hudgins (Upright Bass), but for this live performance of this song, the band was joined by Stephen Kuester and Mark Henderson from Jackass Flats on pedal steel and drums and Tara Dillard on fiddle.

The video was shot by Craig Zirpolo and Joey Wharton. You can catch Red Light Rodeo performing tonight at Garden Grove Brewing Company from 8PM – 11PM.
