Phish is bringing its legendary live show back to Richmond for the first time in more than three decades. The Vermont jam band has announced an eight-show October tour that includes a two-night stop at Allianz Amphitheater on October 6 and 7. Richmond is one of just four cities on the band’s brief fall run, joining Atlantic City, Jacksonville, and Huntsville.
Fans can submit ticket requests HERE through Monday, August 10 at noon ET. Any remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, August 14 at 10 a.m. ET.
This will be Phish’s first Richmond performance in 32 years but the band actually has a long history here. Between 1990 and 1994, Phish played eight Richmond shows while still climbing from cult favorite to one of America’s biggest touring acts. Those early stops included now legendary local venues like The Jade Elephant, The Library, Kahootz, Flood Zone, and the Classic Amphitheater, you can see that full list HERE.
The full band hasn’t returned since its June 30, 1994 show at the Classic Amphitheater, but Richmond has remained a familiar stop for its members. Trey Anastasio has brought the Trey Anastasio Band to both The Landmark Theater and The National several times over the years, while bassist Mike Gordon has played venues including Plan 9, Toad’s Place, and The National.
Formed in Burlington, Vermont, in 1983, Phish has spent more than 40 years building one of the most loyal fan communities in music. The quartet of Trey Anastasio, Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon, and Page McConnell is famous for long, improvisational concerts where no two shows are the same. Fans routinely travel across the country to catch multiple nights because every setlist is unique.
The October dates come after another busy year for the band, including a sold-out nine-night residency at Sphere in Las Vegas and a summer tour featuring five shows at Madison Square Garden before wrapping up over Labor Day weekend in Colorado.
For longtime fans, two nights means two completely different shows. For everyone else, it’s a chance to catch one of America’s most celebrated live bands returning to a city that helped shape its early touring years.
