Dreaming of a summer vacation on a cruise that sets sail on a hot sunny day and carries you away from your worries to beautiful destinations around the country?

Well, you can have the closest thing to it at Yelp’s 4th annual “Drop It Like Its Yacht” party this weekend, a celebration with music, food, and tropical drinks all to benefit Massey Cancer Center.

“It’s going to be a Caribbean theme this year,” she said. “Think of tiki cups and drinks with an umbrella, it’s going to feel like you’re on a cruise to the Caribbean in a cabana,” said Lauri Thompson, Yelp Richmond’s Community Manager.

Attendees will be able to sample food from RVA eateries Red Eye Cookie Company, Aloha Cafe, Carytown Cupcakes, Croakers Spot, Whole Foods and Ginger Juice. Partygoers can also sample a wide range of services and products from other local businesses.

“We throw these events to celebrate Richmond’s incredible local businesses and nonprofits,” Thompson said. “Katie Blue Salon will be doing hair and there will be an RVA Photo Booth.”

Last year, Yelp Richmond threw a Speakeasy Soiree at The Broadberry to benefit The Byrd Theatre.

In addition to samples, the Yelp party will be doing giveaways such as a 10 pack of classes from Orange Theory Fitness, gift cards to Mama J’s, amd Strange’s will be giving away floral arrangements.

The event is free, but donations are encouraged to benefit Massey Cancer Center.

“One of the top cancer centers in the US is right here in our backyard,” Thompson said. “It is our hope that through this event, we will raise enough money to help Massey Cancer Center develop treatments, trials, and conduct the research necessary to save more lives.”

The cancer center has set up an online page for those that would like to donate ahead of time.

DJ PlayDAT will be providing the music and Thompson said the organizers are encouraging attendees to dress in cruise attire.

The Yacht-themed party is free for anyone with a Yelp profile. Thompson said they’re expecting close to 300 people on this makeshift cruise so make sure you RSVP as soon as you can here.

Yelp Richmond’s 4th annual “Drop It Like Its Yacht” party will be held at Kabana at 700 E. Main St. this Saturday, June 25th from 2 to 4 pm.
