People really love The Simpsons – whether its vapor-wave Bart or, in the case of this metal band, Ned Flanders.

People really love The Simpsons – whether its vapor-wave Bart or, in the case of this metal band, Ned Flanders.

Coming out of Phoenix, Arizona, Okilly Dokilly is an interesting mix of novelty and actual metal. They appear to have dropped their first EP back in August 2015 but they’ve since released the incredibly consistent full length Howdilly Doodilly. Check out the first video for “White Wine Spritzer” below:

In case you were curious, they just keep repeating the line “You only live once/
Ah hell, give me a white wine spritzer” which is a real life Flanders’ line –

They’ll be opening for two other weird metal acts. Mac Sabbath, a Mcdonald’s themed Black Sabbath tribute project (seen below) and Metalachi, a metal mariachi band.

Okilly Dokilly come to The Broadberry, opening for Mac Sabbath and Metalachi,. You can snag tickets here.

Good Day RVA is Back and Bringing Friends Along

Deau Eyes Returns With New Album ‘To Grow Instead’

Four years is an eternity in today’s music industry, especially when algorithms reward content, not creativity. When streaming services punish silence, at the expense of artistic evolution.  In this disconnect, some artists race against trends, abandoning the...

I went to Virginia MOCA expecting to hear Andy Howell talk about skateboarding. Instead, I left thinking about community and how people find each other. Howell's installation opens Seamless, the museum's new exhibition exploring the overlap between art and design. At...
