For those of us who have made it into the basement of Vagabond, we know there’s something special down there – and it’s about to get a lot more special thanks to the booking talents of a one Mr. Reggie Pace.
According to Style weekly, Pace, best known locally as one of the leading minds behind No BS! Brass band, will be setting up shows for the basement spot which oozes class and distinction despite being located in a weird no-mans-land for Richmond’s regular bar spots.
Local jazz fans should already be familiar with the spot. RVA’s more traditional big band experience, Devil’s Workshop, has been gigging there for some time, along with other projects organized by Macon Mann/MC Chicken.
But now it seems Pace will take the helm and he promises an eclectic mix for what could be one of RVA’s best new hot spots…. we’re just gonna have to get down there.
“My main vision is for this to be a collective with different types of music from different scenes done in an original way to maximize what the city can do and complement what other venues are doing,” Pace told Style.
The venue also appears to be investing in a new sound system to handle consistent music and larger gigs.
