First Fridays November Will Be Lit Up with INLIGHT 2023

by | Nov 2, 2023 | ART, DOWNTOWN RVA, MUSEUM & GALLERY NEWS, NIGHTLIFE, PERFORMING ARTS, RICHMOND NEWS

As autumn leaves crunch beneath footfalls on Broad Street, Richmond’s Arts District readies itself for a vibrant night of cultural convergence. On November 3rd, the storied heart of downtown Richmond pulsates with an irresistible artistic energy during First Fridays.

From 5 to 11 PM, galleries will fling open their doors, shopkeepers will offer intriguing sidewalk sales, and the seductive hum of live music will lace the air. Events are manifold: from the quirky delights of And Dim Sum‘s grand opening, with its fusion of Southern and Asian flavors, to The Basement‘s sultry burlesque revue that promises an entrancing evening.

But the pulse of the night doesn’t end there. Broad Street will radiate a brilliant glow for InLight 2023: Reflection and Refraction, an avant-garde light-based art exhibition running both Friday and Saturday. This year, it pays homage to the history and transformation of the district. Notable artists like Veronica Jackson and Mauricio Vargas will illuminate Broad Street’s storied past and present. Also, check out “Famous Duo” at Black Iris featuring our friends Darryl Starr and Wolfgang Jasper.

Other standout events include the spirited Urban Hang Suite Anniversary Block Party featuring DJ Lonnie B, and CNTR’s celebration marking its first year as a beacon of community and creativity.

Art aficionados, prepare to be enchanted. The lineup boasts a plethora of openings, including the evocative “Even Dust Becomes a Sparkle” at FIELD Floral and “#TheArtistLife” at Atlas Gallery in Art 180.

Musical interludes, like the harmonies of Wine & Warpaint at Metro Sound & Music Co., are sure to serenade attendees as they wander. And for those curious souls seeking insight, the Stella Luna Mystery Pop-up beckons with promises of revealing tarot readings.

Navigating this expansive evening is no small feat. A gentle reminder to the art enthusiasts: take a breath, let curiosity guide you, and remember – this night is a testament to Richmond’s rich artistic tapestry, woven together by its dedicated community.
