TEXAS BEACH by popcatchland [PHOTOS]

New photos from our friend and photographer Nick Ghobashi.

Nestled in the back of a city neighborhood, next to a graveyard, this little slab of paradise gets its name from the nearby trail that leads to the beach. It’s not really much of a beach, more like a lil sand on the shore of the river where you can have some fun, get chased by snakes and train kids, and swim in the sewage. Anyhow, thanks to some good dudes, the DIY spot is getting better every day, consisting mostly of concrete transitions, nowadays covered some lovely artwork. The following is a basic photo narrative of an afternoon at the beach. Pretty much every local ripper was present, and much fun ensued–minus the part where an 8 year old kid stole my phone.

In 2005, I created RVA Magazine, and I'm still at the helm as its publisher. From day one, it’s been about pushing the “RVA” identity, celebrating the raw creativity and grit of this city. Along the way, we’ve hosted events, published stacks of issues, and, most importantly, connected with a hell of a lot of remarkable people who make this place what it is.
