Last night, Brown’s Island in Richmond played host to a highly anticipated show featuring the Australian band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, with the New York-based band Geese as the opener. We wrote about this show HERE. Despite a few weather-related delays, the show went on, with a crowd that would not be denied braving the rain.

Photographer Joey Wharton and CJ Payne were on-site to document. And we found this video posted today.

For over 15 years, Australia has been a significant contributor to the global music scene, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard stands as a prime example of this trend. Formed in 2010 in Melbourne, the band has become known for their genre-defying sound and prolific output. Their latest release, Flight b741, marks their 26th studio album and continues their tradition of pushing musical boundaries. The album delves into blues influences, combining classic rock elements with modern twists, all within the expansive “Gizzverse” that the band has developed over their extensive discography.

King Gizzard’s ability to consistently produce innovative music has solidified their place as a leading force in the industry. Their live shows are known for their high energy and eclectic mix of sounds, making them a must-see act for fans of experimental rock.

Opening the night was Geese, a band that has quickly gained recognition in the music world. Originating from New York City, Geese formed during high school and signed with Partisan Records shortly after graduation. Their sound blends elements of soulful rock and defies easy categorization. Their latest record, 3D Country, has drawn comparisons to other innovative acts, and their performance at Brown’s Island set the stage for an evening of musical exploration.
