The Richmond Mural Project Is In Full Swing! Muralists Are At Work All Over RVA

by | Jul 25, 2013 | ART, DOWNTOWN RVA, RICHMOND NEWS, STREET ART

A whole bunch of street artists from around the country and abroad have descended upon RVA over the past few days, and with the Richmond Mural Project officially kicking off this week, a lot of work is getting done around town. Along with our friends at Art Whino, we’ve been running around town keeping track of paint hitting walls at various locations, and today we snapped some Instagram shots of various works in progress.

All of these artists will be painting at these spots over the next couple of days, so come by, check out the work they’re doing, and watch public art take shape before your eyes. Stay tuned to RVAmag.com for more process shots as well as conversations with the artists and behind-the-scenes coverage of the Richmond Mural Project as it happens. And be sure to follow our instagram account to see more pics in the upcoming days and weeks on @rvamag And if you take any instagram shots of Richmond Mural Project activity, share them with us! Use hashtag #richmondmuralproject for all your Richmond Mural Project needs.

Be sure to come out, meet the artists, and party with us this Saturday from noon-6 at Selba for the Richmond Mural Project Reception, presented by Art Whino and RVA Mag.

REVIEW | Ducking Awesome! WitchDuck Is Smart, Sharp, and Ruthless

I am rarely speechless, especially about theatre. Since I don’t get paid if I remain silent, I will make myself criticize a play I don’t feel I have any right to judge. Gotta pay the rent, and all that. I came into this performance of WitchDuck by Cadence and...

Richmond Had a General Strike and a First Friday on the Same Night

It was 72 and breezy. Unseasonably pleasant, almost chilly. VCU students were splayed out on picnic blankets in Monroe Park enjoying soft serve and the sunshine. Citronella and the smell of hot dogs wafted through the air from some folks having a cookout. “High...
