Your Summer Music Festival Rundown

We know the above poster is fake, but we couldn’t help but laugh at the incredible line up. Personally I think Creed would be worth the price of admission alone.

We know the above poster is fake, but we couldn’t help but laugh at the incredible line up. Personally I think Creed would be worth the price of admission alone.

Of course, the real Cochella Line up is pretty solid (and sold out) including Neutral Milk Hotel, Beck, The Knife, Pharrell Williams, and a large number of more notable acts.

Firefly Festival, June 19th, up in Dover, DE, is a bit closer if you need your Outkast fix. There, you’ll also catch the Foo Fighters, Pretty Lights, Girl Talk, Weezer, Tune-Yards and many more…

The southern favorite Bonnaroo is set to announce their line up Feb. 19th, but Outkast has promised a full festival tour this summer, so I’m guessing you’ll be able to catch ’em there.

South By Southwest is set for the week of March 7. Keep your ears open to hear HAIM, Tegan & Sara, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, 21 Pilots, CHVRCHES, Charli XCX, ZZ Ward, Kendrick Lamar, Chuck Ragan as well as all the crazy, unofficial crap that will be going down if you can make it down there.

Anyone heard of Counterpoint? Me neither, but here’s another chance to see Outkast. Pretty Lights, Matt & Kim, Boize Noise, STS9, Sleigh Bells and a mess of other acts await you at this Late April weekend in Kingston Downs, GA event.

NYC’s Governor’s Ball hopes to break its mediocre history by bring in Jack White, Vampire Weekend, and not Outkast… just kidding, of course Outkast is playing. You’ll also catch The Strokes and Julian Casablancas in a solo set which I hope they wont bill at the same time, but whatever, that’s why these events have golf carts, right?

There are a few more festivals happening around the country, but what’s listed above is a good starter dose of summer festival events. I’m an old hat at Bonnaroo by now (8 roo’s under my belt) But maybe I’ll pop our SXSW cherry this year…
