GWAR Throbbleheads Are Coming Soon; Pre-Order Yours Now (Or Win A Set From Decibel)

Aggronautix Throbbleheads have always been the perfect gift for punk rockers and metalheads who have everything; launched in 2009, the line of toys has featured such maniacal music heroes as GG Allin, Wendy O. Williams, and Milo Aukerman of The Descendents. Now GWAR has joined the ranks of artists immortalized in Throbblehead figurines with a new limited-edition set featuring Oderus Urungus and Balzac, The Jaws Of Death.

Of course, the loss of Dave Brockie overshadows the arrival of these commemorative toys, but in order to honor his memory while preserving his legacy of creative, over-the-top fun, Aggronautix will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these Throbbleheads to the Dave Brockie Fund. This charity, started by the surviving members of GWAR, has “the mission of promoting the advancement of music, images, letters and performances in the arts,” and “intends to be a support system to those who have dedicated their lives in pursuit of creativity.” For more information about the Dave Brockie Fund, go to http://www.gwar.net/dave-brockie-fund.

The Throbblehead set includes a 6.5″ Oderus Urungus figure as well as a 7.5″ Balzac figure complete with battleaxe. The figures are limited to a hand-numbered edition of 1000, which ships in late July. Preorders can be made HERE, and cost $49.95. Alternately, if you can’t spare the cash but have some video equipment lying around, Decibel Magazine is running a contest in which entrants must create a videotaped Ode To Oderus, which should produce some pretty zany responses. The videos must be posted to YouTube and entered into the contest by May 26. For more info, check out the Decibel post here.
