The Hope Revolution tour is coming to DC’s 9:30 Club on Sunday, and if you were a fan of the whole emo uprising that happened about a decade ago, you should definitely be up for a quick trip up to our nation’s capital for this one. Hawthorne Heights are your headliners on this bill, and they’re currently touring in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their debut album, The Silence In Black And White. Back in 2005, that album’s lead single, “Ohio Is For Lovers,” was inescapable on y101, MTV2, and Fuse, so I’ve seen this video a million times, but it still rules (even if the dangling microphone thing seems a bit contrived), so let’s watch it again now:

I actually saw this band on the original tour for that album, at a y101-sponsored mini-fest in Shockoe Bottom back in 2005. Fall Out Boy, Underoath, and A Static Lullaby (plus a bunch of other bands I didn’t care about at the time, though in hindsight I wish I’d caught The Presidents Of The United States Of America) also played that show, so it was a pretty great deal for an emo fan at the time, and Hawthorne Heights won me over in a big way with their set that day. A decade has passed, so the question is: will they still be great? Honestly, it seems a safe bet. They’ll be playing The Silence In Black And White straight through, and that album definitely rules.

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will also be along on the Hope Revolution Tour, and while these guys have a bit more of a glam-pop feel than the metalcore-tinged sound of Hawthorne Heights, they should be a good compliment to their co-headliners. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus recently released their fourth album, the aptly titled 4, but personally I can’t think about these guys without getting “Do you feel like a man when you push her around?” stuck in my head, so let’s all relive the memory of one of the best singles of 2007 and watch the “Face Down” video:

Between these two bands and all the up-and-coming groups on the undercard at this show, The Hope Revolution Tour promises to be an action-packed evening of emo and pop-punk sounds at the 9:30 Club on Sunday. After all, what else are you gonna do that day, watch football? I mean, yeah, me too, but you can listen to the game on the radio while you drive up. You don’t wanna miss this!
