Peter Steele 1962-2010

by | Apr 15, 2010 | MUSIC

Legendary musician Peter Steele is reported dead today at 48 years old, of apparent heart failure. Most noted as the frontman of gothic / doom metal band Type O Negative, Steele was a bit of a recluse. His influence on heavy metal as a genre and American music in general was significant, and most of the RVA Magazine office is still in shock at the news of his death. Those who are not in shock are either complete squares, or whippersnappers too young to know good music when it drudges past them.

Type O Negative’s webpage has re-opened their forums for mourners to share their thoughts and memories, linked above.
