Located in the heart of Carytown, Eurotrash has become a prominent spot for fashion savvy shoppers. As the name suggests, Eurotrash exclusively carries European designed, influenced, and manufactured women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories specifically catered to stylish, professional women in their mid-twenties.

Anne Hughes founded Eurotrash in September 2007. Before Hughes opened up her shop, she always had an interest in fashion and travel. She spent time living in both London and Prague; through her travels in Europe, she discovered unique, affordable clothing lines that she couldn’t find anywhere else. She found that idea immensely appealing. For about ten years, Hughes worked in retail and dreamed of one day opening her own boutique. Her travels and experiences combined with her retail experience pushed Hughes to open Eurotrash. But why Richmond? Hughes loves the size of the city. She explains that Richmond “is manageable enough to navigate easily while big enough to afford some anonymity.”

There was a very sophisticated feeling present the second that I stepped into Eurotrash. The merchandise is spread throughout the store both hung neatly on racks and folded tidily on tables. The way that the store is arranged lends to a sense of open space and minimalism that makes it easy to shop and maneuver throughout the store. Large windows let in a wonderful amount of natural light.

As I began to walk around the store, the feminine, sophisticated merchandise immediately enchanted me. My eyes were drawn to the front table where unique, pastel pieces were neatly placed. After swooning over the pieces on the front table for a few minutes, I began to browse through the racks and other tables. The racks were filled with incredible dresses in a variety of different prints, soft colors and textures. The dresses all possessed a similar tailored, ladylike feeling. Other stylish tops and skirts possessed that same elegant ambiance. Delicate jewelry and other accessories were also spread throughout the store, calling out to shoppers.

Eurotrash also has a selection of incredible shoes, which encompass both sensibility and trendiness. Actually, while I was chatting with Hughes at Eurotrash, she was wearing a pair of the sandals the store sells, and demonstrated how fashion-forward they are while talking about how comfortable they are to wear, even when you are on your feet for most of the day.

Upon looking through the merchandise, Hughes’ immaculate attention to European style and trends became overwhelmingly obvious. As an avid fashion enthusiast, I noticed how styles and pieces in Eurotrash were reminiscent of the items recently photographed in magazines like Vogue and Elle.

Eurotrash imports new lines of European fashion that have never been experienced before in Richmond. In some instances, the lines have never been brought to the US at all. “European lines like the ones we carry tend to be fashion-forward yet maintain a staying power,” Hughes explains. “You can get things from us before the trend hits Richmond and wear it for several years as it comes into vogue in the US.”

Besides having a physical store located in Carytown, Eurotrash additionally offers an option for shoppers to browse and purchase items online. Eurotrash also provides a styling service known as “Local Fix.” If you are looking to update your wardrobe but don’t have time, or if you are looking for the perfect outfit for an upcoming event, Local Fix has your back.

Eurotrash stylists have a combined fashion industry experience of over 25 years, and as Hughes states, “We have varied senses of style and body types among us, and are well versed in our clothing lines and how they fit, making it easy for us to direct people on what suits a particular figure and occasion best.” The styling service is complimentary in stores.

If you would rather take advantage of the styling service at home, you can fill out a short questionnaire and Eurotrash stylists will select items specifically for you and deliver them to you directly. For the use of Local Fix in the privacy of your own home, there is a $20 styling fee that will be added to your final purchase. Look forward to the official launch of Local Fix this upcoming fall.

Eurotrash has been selected as the first boutique in Richmond to collaborate with Shoptiques.com. Shoptiques.com provides a curated selection of items from the best small boutiques across the world. Hughes plans on using the partnership to “grow our online business with them.”

Eurotrash is located at 3009 West Cary Street, Richmond, Virginia 23221 and is open Monday through Saturday 10AM-7PM and Sunday 12PM-5PM. To stay updated with Eurotrash, check out their website (http://www.shopeurotrash.com/) and their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ShopEurotrash).
