April 7th marks the first Friday of this month, and you know what that means. RVA First Fridays Artwalk is back with tons of exhibits, music, artist showcases, events and fun happenings for you to check out.

Gallery5’s 12th Birthday Party
Gallery5 is turning 12 this weekend and celebrating in the only way they know how: WEIRD! So their event is jam-packed, you will read more on that in an upcoming RVA Mag story, but for now you can expect live music from The Trillions, Lobo Marino, Prabir, burlesque, inside and outside bands, a raffle, an art market, a multi-media art show presented by Party Liberation Front, PLF’s pyro circus street show, Djs (some tunes by RVA Mag’s own John Reinhold), dance and more. FREE. Donations encouraged!
Love This Airstream at Monroe and Broad
Fashion business Love This will haul their airstream full of clothes and other pretty things to the corner of Monroe and Broad on Friday. RVA vendors Superfun Yoga Pants, Hummingbird Gardens, Liberatus Jewelry, MudLOVE, Maven Made, & We Are Creatures will also be set up for you to peruse.
“Cut by Cut” at the Visual Art Studio
VCU professor Francis Scott Horner and Nickolai Walko, a local sculpture artist will premiere their exhibit “Cut by Cut” at Visual Art Studio this Friday. The artists create tape drawings on painted panel by cutting designs with an X-acto blade then pealing away the tape to reveal the image.
“Vacant” continues at Quirk Gallery
RVA photographer Kip Dawkins’ exhibit “Vacant” is still on display at Quirk Gallery is the gallery’s first photography exhibit. This is the last weekend to see the exhibit, which is a collection of images captured on Dawkins’ roadside stops during his travels across the country. Read our interview with him here.
Richmond Famous with Amy Black
Richmond Famous is the The Coaltion Theater’s longest running unscripted show series at this month they are featuring local tattoo artist, Amy Black. The artist has operated her own shop since 2000 and in 2011, Black expanded into post-mastectomy tattooing and founded the Pink Ink Fund, which aims to ease the financial burden for men and women seeking nipple and areola repigmentation or tattooing after a mastectomy.
