MOCA will bring New York-based artist Tara McPherson for an artist talk and Q&A in conjunction with Turn the Page: The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose on Thursday, Dec. 8th.

McPherson uses portraiture to give us a peek into the complexities of the human psyche through her otherworldly characters.

Creating art about people and their odd ways, her characters seem to exude an idealized innocence with a glimpse of hard earned wisdom in their eyes. She explores, through portraiture, the realms of our psychological states via myths, legends, astronomy, physics, nature, love, loss, childhood and good old life experience. Giving us a peek into the complexities of the human psyche through her otherworldly characters.

McPherson exhibits her paintings and serigraphs in fine art galleries all over the world. Named the crown princess of poster art by ELLE Magazine, she has created numerous gig posters for rock bands such as Beck, Modest Mouse, and Mastodon. REVIEW | Ducking Awesome! WitchDuck Is Smart, Sharp, and Ruthless

I am rarely speechless, especially about theatre. Since I don’t get paid if I remain silent, I will make myself criticize a play I don’t feel I have any right to judge. Gotta pay the rent, and all that. I came into this performance of WitchDuck by Cadence and...
