Virginia Museum of Fine Arts ‘Rodin’ exhibit opens Saturday

The work of the greatest scultptors of the 19th and early 20th centuries will be on display starting tomorrow at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.


The work of the greatest scultptors of the 19th and early 20th centuries will be on display starting tomorrow at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Musée Rodin in Paris will bring nearly 200 works of French sculptor Auguste Rodin with the exhibit Rodin: Evolutuon of a Genius.

Most known for his work “The Thinker”, the exhibit will showcase his techniques, materials, models and assistants, and explore the extraordinary working process behind some of his best known works.

Fragile plasters, patinated bronzes, marble figures, ceramics and photographs will all be on display at this new exhibit. This will be the first time that much of the work will be presented in the United States.

Besides “The Thinker”, other notable works of Rodin’s such as “The Kiss” and “The Age of Bronze” will also be display.

The Rodin: Evoution of a Genius exhibit will run at the VMFA from tomorrow, Sat. Nov. 21 to March 31. Tickets $15, $12 for seniors, $10 for students, free for members.
