The funny people at The Coalition Theater have a couple of events lined up for you this weekend that all center around bikes!

If you’re looking to have some laughs about the UCI Bike Championships, the racers and other bike-related silliness, then check out the comedians behind the theater’s Slow Ride Podcast. It’s an unscripted and hilarious conversation about bikes, bike racing, and cycling culture and tonight, the three bike aficionados lend their comedic insight into the world of cycling; its history as well as some “wild (and certainly mispronounced) predictions for the Richmond World Championships.” they will do the podcast live from the theater! Tickets at the link above. Check out a sample of the show below:

And then this Saturday, the comedy group Middle Management, will bring the bike race indoors for an improvised performance while riding stationary bikes. Yes, really.

Featuring an opening performance from Shamoniki Ellison and Townsend Hart, together known as SHAMTOWN. Tickets here.

Richmond Showed Up. Now the Real Work Begins. Get Involved.

Richmond showed up this weekend. We’ve got to hold our leaders accountable—applaud them when they get it right, and hit the streets when they don’t. But protest is just one part of the work. If you were out there—or even if you wanted to be—don’t let it end with the...

Why Norfolk’s NEON District Works—and What Richmond Can Learn

In 2013, a two-day event transformed a neglected stretch of Norfolk, Virginia, into a pop-up arts district. It wasn’t a city plan—it was a vision. Volunteers opened temporary galleries in boarded-up storefronts. Food trucks rolled in. Sidewalks were painted with...

The Vinyl Crypt of Scott’s Addition: Wax Moon’s Strange Magic

Off of Broad Street, deep in Scott’s Addition between warehouses and alleyways, is a black hole in the wall filled with music, vintage VHS, and (perhaps most importantly) Richmond’s preeminent collection of horror-themed pinball machines. I came to Wax Moon on a cool...
