This Saturday the Richmond music scene is coming together to help one of their own. This July, Todd Witteman woke up in incredible pain and was unable to move. He was far from home, in Ann Arbor working on the plaster walls of a new store. When he woke up in his hotel room that morning he knew there was a problem and called an EMT. Todd has been officially diagnosed with Grade 1 Spondylolisthesis with bilateral Pars defect and disc herniation to vertebras L4 and L5.

Todd’s road to recovery has not, and will not, be a cheap one. With medical bills beginning to stack up his friends decided they needed to do what they could to help him out. So, in typically Richmond fashion, they’re throwing a house party and fundraising event at the Lost Bowl, which will feature some great bands in the Richmond scene. Cannabis Corpse, The Catalyst, Iron Reagan, Unholy Thoughts, and Suppression are all mentioned on the lineup. If you don’t know about the lost bowl, it is the epitome of a DIY skate park. So while the music is raging through the event, people are welcome to bring a set of wheels and drop in.

There will also be a raffle at the event. Many local businesses donated to the raffle, including many record labels and bands, which resulted in an awesomely long list of vinyl and cassettes that will go to one lucky winner.

Todd is starting to recover. He can now walk just a few steps on his own, a big victory for someone in his situation, and is regularly attending physical therapy. He hopes to be able to make it out to the show on Saturday.

The Felon Who Built Scott’s Addition

It’s Still Our City | Ep. 13 Stooping RVA

"The joy of finding a perfectly reusable gem on a sidewalk, in an alley, or on a porch stoop is one of the perks of living in such close proximity in the city of Richmond. The FOMO of not making it on your bike in time for a taxidermy dolphin or a surprisingly decent...
